This sub category is created for even semester post graduate courses of the Department of Computer Science.

This course basically deals with working of various Internet protocols like TCP/IP, IGMP, ICMP, ARP, etc. It further deals with routing in the internet. Network Programming is discussed in detail with special emphasis to socket programming and network applications development. Security issues and solutions related to network communication  are discussed.

Information and communication technology have truly introduced the concept of global village, where every individual can access and share information from any part of the world. At one side, it provides enormous benefits but at the same time poses many serious threats including data theft, online transaction fraud, cheating scam and others. Cyber security provides the required functionality to protect the cyber critical infrastructure from attack, damage, misuse and economic espionage. Keeping in mind all the above and many more concerns, a course is developed for the student of MCA-IV semester with the following objectives:

  • To sensitize and establish the fundamental concepts and principles of cybersecurity.
  • To introduce and explain cryptography and its applications in maintaining information security.
  • To introduce and explain Network and Internet security and its mitigation.
  • To develop an understanding of web-based threats and counter measures.
  • To develop an understanding of malicious attacks, threats, and vulnerabilities.
